I’m actually excited about blogging an idea I had a few days ago. It’s pretty simple and came about as I read a book called “Internet Riches” by Scott Fox. Another one of several internet marketing, eBusiness how to, anyone can do it books that I’ve picked up during the many years of being self employed “on-line.”
While first glancing through the book, I saw the usual pattern that carries on from one eBusiness resource to the next. I’ll detail out the many cons and the few pro’s of the resources later on but for now, more to the point of this project.
First, who am I in short. I’m the average everyday internet dude that has a family, loves to party, always to be a gamer, and fortunately hasn’t had a job since 1999′ish. My income has solely been generated from internet sites or internet related services mostly web design as that’s my passion. Over the the past year or so I’ve invested in realestate and a restaurant which I own but prefer not to operate. Just because I can pay the bills doesn’t make me a millionair. That would be next on my list. A little more about me below but for now here is my commitment.
I’m going to utilize all tips, tricks, suggestions, methods and how to examples from all the books I’ve read and also put in my own ‘expertise’ along the way.
This list of commitments will most likely expand along the way but for day 1, I think it’s a good start.
Now, I am a step or five ahead of most on-line entrepreneurs only because I’ve been doing graphic design and technical stuff for quite some time. Several (but not all) aspects of on-line tasks I can pretty much do myself. I’ll document and try to find cost effective comparable solutions if it were needed by anyone not having the same skill set as I may have.
A little more about me;
My first “on-line” experience was way back in the Commadore Vic 20 days with a brand new 300 baud modem. A Fun but very slow time back then. After that I jumped into running my own Pirate BBS and charged access so that people could download California Games. My little hacker days. Until .. I got in trouble but that’s a story in itself. A good 20 years ago and I’m 33 now.
Then came my first Internet experience. In 1992, Ft. Belvoir Virginia. I was a Senior Clerk tasked with just about everything. From coffee runs to copying and over time, administering the user accounts on a Novell network. That’s when the Department of Information Management dug trenches to our building and ran a digital line in called a T1. I got to see the first broadband connection installed in Northern VA and I was clueless. My job was to sit back and watch the program go to this thing called a web page. Once it connected, I spent days clicking through open fronts. There was no Nike.com or Microsoft.com. There was nothing. If only I knew then, what I know now!
Time went on, things changed as did I and it’s been a fun ride. Now here we are.
Today marks the first day of a 365 day commitment to put my skills and all these eBiz how to books to use.
My next entry will be the 4 businesses I’m choosing to start and I’ll share my business plans for each. And don’t be alarmed - my business planning is on the fly - to the point - do it or don’t. I’ll pretty much come up with them as I write them in the next entry.
